How Cartoon Characters Can Help Aid Kettlebell Sales

By Greg Diener

Kettlebells are the newest craze in the fitness world, but it seems they could use a little bit more online promotion. Who do you think would be a better promoter for these types of weights and the results they provide: Mighty Mouse or Phineas and Barnaby? To answer this question we must first answer the question "What are kettlebells?"

Kettlebells are Russian in origination and were initially utilized as counterweights for agricultural scales in markets. These weights are cast-iron balls with a flat bottom and a handle affixed at the top. They have countless contrasting uses but are mostly swung, jerked, cleaned and pressed. They are great exercise tools that produce effective results.

A cartoon character that has a good chance to connect with the demographics of individuals who use kettlebells is Mighty Mouse. Mighty Mouse's origins go back into the 1940's and well into the early part of the 1990's. He is a character that reaches many generations of people that might desire to use kettlebells. With a new Mighty Mouse film potentially hitting movie theaters next year, it would be a good time to use him in any promotional campaign about the benefits of kettlebells. The movie and a sense of nostalgia could convince people to try them and see what kettlebells are all about.

Phineas and Barnaby are characters from the successful animated T.V. series Family Guy. While they are not major characters in the program, they are relatively prominent as the bald, mustache wearing, old-timey weightlifting duo from the series. These are characters that are part of a contemporary, funny T.V. series so they would draw a bit more of a connection for the younger portion of the audience while also being correlated to the older segment of the target group. People also connect these characters with fitness because they are usually lifting their triangular, 2000 pound weights in each hand. It is a great connection between weightlifting and pop culture characters.

You have a character that stands for power and heroism in the childhood toon superhero Mighty Mouse versus the strength and hilarity of contemporary cartoon characters in Phineas and Barnaby. They are each pretty reasonable options for an online promotional push. There are the ideas, now you pick which one you think would work better.
